Our conversation took place in Vạn Phúc temple – a 1000 years temple of worship to lady Lã Thị Nga. The temple was built on the place where lady Lã Thị Nga died.

The roll is about 40 meters long and it took 30 minutes to be completely dyed by a handicraftsman. Dyeing is the last major period of silk-weaving.

Smog or just smoke?

When I talk about this phenomenon, my wife and some neighbors say it should be the photochemical smog. But I can sniff the smell of the burning harvested rice plants.

In this time period, farmers are hardly harvesting rice from many fields around. After separating the seeds, they ofter dry and burn the plants.

In 2009, a similar phenomenon happened and scientists affirmed it was the photochemical smog.
